Resident. Widespread but very local and not very
common in England, even more uncommon in Wales and Scotland.

Lifestage data
Stem feeder. Eggs laid on foodplant. Larva lives and feeds in the stems
causing a slight swelling of the stem. Pupates spun up in larval
feeding place or in an earthen cocoon.
